Founded in the mid-19th century, it was originally known as Ferndale and renamed in honor of James W. Fuller, a prominent industrialist who established the Lehigh Car, Wheel, and Axle Works in the area. Fullerton grew as a hub of manufacturing during Pennsylvania’s industrial boom.
